ANDREW SHNIDERMAN – Director, Steve’s Club DC

Contact Andrew: andrew@stevesclubdc.org

Health and fitness have always been front and center for Andrew. He knows the value of incorporating different training styles to keep workouts fun and effective. Numerous sports, from soccer to swimming, were a part of his daily life, and later a love affair with strength training.  Through fitness is is able to teach others how to improve their lives, both mind and body.

Sports taught Andrew the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, determination and hard work.  He leaned how to temper frustrations, deal with failures, set goals, think strategically and learn humility. These values are sometimes hard to teach in a class setting and often have to experience.  This is where Steve’s Club comes in, offering kid and teens that opportunity to grow and learn. Steve’s Club DC can change a child’s destiny. We mentor in a positive, fun and safe environment; giving kids the chance to live the Steve’s Club values: Integrity, Respect, Improvement, Teamwork, Support, Positivity, Discipline, Character, and Community.

Why am I here?

“Participating in sports played one of the greatest roles in shaping my young adult life. It was fun and, yes, I was one of those kids who had ‘too much energy’, but more than that, sports taught me some incredibly important values: sportsmanship, teamwork, determination and hard work.  I learned how to temper my frustrations, deal with failures, set goals, think strategically and learn humility.”

“These values are sometimes hard to teach in a class setting or at home. Parents aren’t recognized, in our early years, for the knowledge they have.  Experience truly is the best teacher’ and when kids are on a field or in a gym, they open themselves up in a unique way.  Scoring a point, finishing a race, or winning the game: THAT a kid can understand. The problem solving skills learned in sports are some of the best lessons a child can learn, and these successes as a kid will help carry you into later greater success in your adult life.”

“I was lucky.  I had coaches who taught me through sports.  Not all kids are as lucky as me; sometimes even access to a good gym or field is a challenge.  This is where Steve’s Club and CrossFit becomes important. Steve’s Club DC, through CrossFit, is can change a child’s destiny; and that’s what affects me the most. We mentor in a positive, fun and safe environment; giving kids the chance to live Steve’s Club values: Integrity, Respect, Improvement, Teamwork, Support, Positivity, Discipline, Character, and Community.
